Designing the website
If you have an existing logo for your business, this will be used to determine the color scheme of the website. If no logo is available, we will create a custom header for your website using the color scheme of your choice.
Content refers to all the information you want your visitors to read. This is your chance to tell everyone about your business. The more information you provide, the better!
Once we have all the information we need, we will proceed to design your website (create its layout and heading) and set up its pages.
You will be able to view your website's progress and give feedback. We want you, our client, to be happy with the final result.
Domain Name & Hosting
A domain name needs to be registered and hosting arranged before a website can be uploaded to the Internet.
A domain name is the address we type into our web browsers to visit a specific website, i.e. http://www.mywebsite.co.za. This domain name needs to be registered and renewed annually.
Website hosting refers to the server space where the website will be stored. For this we pay a hosting company rent every month.
Recommendation
The majority of our clients' websites are hosted by Host4Africa. Their Basic Hosting package is all we need to get your website online. This package includes domain registration, hosting, the option to set up an email address (i.e. info@mywebsite.co.za) and also PHP and MySQL, which is essential for our Membership and eCommerce packages.
You can use a hosting company of your choice. We, however, recommend Host4Africa because of their low hosting fees.
- The hosting costs only R9.99 per month.
- To register a .co.za domain name costs R100 (with an annual renewal fee of R75).
We can apply for Host4Africa's package on your behalf (we will need you to provide us with the personal details they require) or you can visit their website and follow the steps to complete the application process yourself.
Registration is normally done on the same day. Host4Africa may require verification of your banking details for security purposes, which could delay the registration process.
Once you receive the 'Setup Information' from them, simply forward the email to us and we will proceed to upload the website files to your new domain.
